CARD 1. The ultimate convenience, ‘wet tissue’

People who have brought up a child will show 100% agreement with the convenience of wet tissue.

Parents who have to change diapers countless times every day even describe wet tissue as the ‘best gift from god’.

Wet tissue is widely used for not only parenting but also for cleaning one’s hands at a local restaurant, a free gift at a gas station, and even promotional materials distributed at the streets.

CARD 2. Is wet tissue really eco-friendly?

Maybe because of its name, ‘wet tissue’ makes consumers misunderstand and intuitively think that it is an ‘eco-friendly product’ by which a tissue is soaked in water.

However, as the hazardous substance contained in wet tissues became a social issue, the consumers revealed a deep feeling of antipathy and anxiety.

CARD 3. The truth of wet tissue that contains hazardous substances

At last, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety gathered the wet tissues circulating the market in 2018, examined them, and announced the results.

To be specific, from the examination of a total of 13 chemical substances including harmful heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalate, and preservatives (including CMIT/MIT), it was concluded that out of the 147 products, 14 products received administrative disposition due to exceeding the standard limit.

CARD 4. Real wet tissue vs fake wet tissue

Following such result, the consumers have raised a louder voice stating the need for more active responsibility due to the damaged environment from the widespread and unconscious use of wet tissues.

Generally, wet tissue is not a tissue soaked in water. In other words, it is not made from toilet paper.

You know that the toilet paper we commonly use goes soft and completely breaks down when it becomes even a little wet.

CARD 5. Wet tissues are made from plastic?

Wet tissue is made from a plastic component composed of a mixture of rayon and PET (polyester).

Because it is not paper, it does not rip apart easily and can be stored for a long time. But since it does not break apart naturally, it is categorized as ‘harmful trash’ which pollutes the environment.

In the United Kingdom, wet tissue has already been identified as a cause of environmental pollution in the plastic removal plan. Furthermore, the wet tissue’s harmful effects are being taken seriously.

CARD 6. The appearance of the all-around cleansing cosmetic : Cleansing Tissue

The cosmetic that utilized this wet tissue is the ‘cleansing tissue’.

Cleansing tissue has appealed to the consumers for its portability and convenient nature in the removal of makeup.

Furthermore, cleansing tissue explains that because it contains natural organic ingredients, protects the skin through the minimization of skin irritation, and even enables deep cleansing, there is no need for double cleansing.

CARD 7. The truth of cleansing tissue full of preservatives

But let us think about it.

In order for one piece of fabric wet with water to have a strong enough cleansing power to make double cleansing unnecessary, how much chemical products should it contain?

Furthermore, if you consider the fact that wet products such as cleansing tissue has to be in a circulation for a long time, the addition of preservatives is also essential.

CARD 8. Non-woven fabric made of plastic, pretends to be a natural cleansing tissue

Furthermore, because cleansing tissue is being sold by confidently marketing itself as a product made of a thick and tough pulp material that lessens the potential to rip apart, you can only conclude that its social responsibility for environmental pollution is significantly low, in addition to its harmful effect on the skin.

In addition, the ‘non-woven cloth’ made of plastic claims to have included the minimum amount of natural organic compounds but is openly sold as a ‘natural cleansing tissue cosmetic’.

CARD 9. Now is the time to participate in the movement to not use wet tissues!

When you use the cleansing tissue unconsciously, you end up damaging the natural environment without even knowing it.

Although you can partially give up the convenient factor, let us change from ‘using less’ cleansing tissue to ‘not using’ it at all.

From now on, if you stop using these products, you will become an even wiser consumer who protects and cares for the environment you will pass on to your future generation.
