Professor Chang-Hoon Huh of the Department of Dermatology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital is explaining the principle of Mirajet, a need-free syringe, at the regular meeting of the American Society of Laser Medicine.

JSK Biomed presented the clinical research results on using its needleless syringe (brand name: Mirajet) at the regular meeting of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) on April 30 (local time).

Six researchers, including domestic dermatologists, participated in this study. MiraJet is a microjet-type trans-dermal drug delivery system that employs the intense energy of Er: YAG laser to instantly inject drugs into the skin without using a needle. A small amount of drug can be delivered evenly to the skin uniformly.

The first presenter, Professor Chang-Hoon Huh of the Department of Dermatology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, explained the research background. "The need for a new drug delivery system is due to the phobia of needles caused by pain and the problem controlling the injection depth and amount. Mirajet makes it possible to control the drug amount precisely and inject quickly without serious pain."

In particular, this joint retrospective study based on clinical research results of dermatologists in the hospital confirmed that Mirajet effectively resolves various skin lesions.

Typically, indentation scars are skin lesions that many people have. Existing scar treatment using laser irradiation or high-frequency methods still requires improvements because of the side effects of thermal imaging and the long duration of treatment.

Co-researcher SeoAsong Dermatologic clinic Director Seo Suk-bae compared Mirajet with the conventional treatment for acne scars and enlarged pore lesions. And he demonstrated the effectiveness and safety of Mirajet when injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) poly-di-lactic acid (PLA, Poly Latic Acid).

In addition, Kim Jiehoon, Director of Dr. Kim’s Skin and Laser Clinic the Dermatology Department, stated that the drug delivery of Mirajet and the promotion of regeneration through physical stimulation of the skin by micro-jet improve fingernail scratches quickly and effectively.

Director Kim HongSeok of the VOS Dermatologic clinic expressed, "Mirajet can deliver the drug effects to the upper skin layer, so it shows excellent results in the treatment of small pores and acne scars in large areas."

According to the study results, most scars improved after 1 to 5 treatments, and the slight micro scabs and temporary erythema immediately after treatment disappeared spontaneously within 3 to 4 days. No serious adverse events such as persistent erythema or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) were reported.

It is said that medical experts worldwide showed keen interest when the clinical results of the world's first laser drug delivery system developed in Korea were introduced. In particular, Professor Merete Hædersdal of Bisfevier Hospital in Denmark, a world-famous TDDS (Trans-Dermal Drug Delivery System) expert and a dermatologist from Harvard Medical School, showed deep inquisitiveness in Mirajet with a completely different mechanism. He also discussed joint research with other researchers.

Jeon Jin-woo, CEO of JSK Biomed, expressed anticipation by saying, "Mirazet is a drug delivery technology that is very suitable for skincare because it can inject a small amount of drug into a large area without the use of an injection needle."
