With increased freedom in wearing masks, more people are paying attention to appearance management.

Especially since the nose plays a significant role in determining first impressions, some consider rhinoplasty for image enhancement. However, experts emphasize that since the nose is responsible for breathing, rhinoplasty should be decided upon carefully after thorough consultation with professionals.

Nose shapes vary among individuals, including crooked noses, bulbous noses, humped noses, and low noses, with a highly complex structure. Therefore, diagnosing the nose's interior first through precise 3D CT scans is essential.

Director Sung-yong Hae of Seoul GNG hospital stated, "If the examination reveals severe deformities inside the nose and functional discomfort, functional surgery, and rhinoplasty may be considered simultaneously.

Finding a shape that suits oneself and choosing a prosthesis to maintain it is also essential.

Prostheses are broadly categorized into artificial prostheses and autologous tissues, and silicone, often preferred during rhinoplasty to elevate the bridge of the nose, is an example of the former.

While silicone prostheses show minimal shape deformation over time, rhinoplasty using autologous tissues is also an option if it feels unnatural.

Autologous tissues include ear cartilage, septal cartilage, and rib cartilage, among others. Ear and septal cartilage are commonly used to shape the tip of the nose, while rib cartilage provides the most substantial support, ensuring better shape maintenance.

Seoul GNG hospital Director Sung YongHae emphasized, "In South Korea, personalized prostheses utilizing 3D printing technology are highly preferred," adding, "Especially during surgeries using autologous tissues, it is safer to seek treatment from medical professionals with ample experience in tissue harvesting and rich anatomical knowledge.
